Women in Technology Leadership Summit

The glass ceiling for women in higher education technology management is well documented, with women holding just 22% of CIO positions in 2017, a decrease from 28% in 2016. As quoted in the August 2017 issue of University Business, Wayne Brown, Founder of the Center for Higher Education Chief Information Officer Studies, states that, “The number of women in tech leadership in higher education is imbalanced”.

Have you broken the "tech ceiling" and are you able to help others do the same?

On June 4, 2018, join University Business in supporting, motivating, educating and inspiring the next wave of influential higher education technology change agents as a speaker at The Women in Technology Leadership Summit at UBTech 2018.

Our 4.5-hour program runs from 7:30am-12pm and includes a networking breakfast and coffee break.

We will cover the following topics and welcome your session proposal:

  1. Education and experience: the required degrees, experience and skills needed for unlimited career growth
  2. Unconscious bias: barriers to entry, interview strategies and what you can do to change perceptions about women in technology
  3. Confidence: how to become a leader, pursuing challenges, taking risks and grasping opportunities to learn and grow
  4. Resilience: embracing change and helping others achieve greater outcomes
  5. Effectiveness: contributing to teams in a meaningful way, leveraging resources and succeeding at getting people to act together
  6. Mentorship: finding and approaching mentors and sponsors, what to expect of them, paying it forward and how it helps to have male allies
