John I. Williams, Jr. is President of Muhlenberg College, a highly selective, private, liberal arts college located in Allentown, PA. Williams is an innovative higher education leader and a strong advocate for the enduring value of liberal arts education. Throughout his career, Williams has been highly engaged in higher education. Williams worked in strategy consulting at Eduventures and The Bridgespan Group, both in Boston, where he led multiple engagements for several higher education clients.
Williams has served on the Board of Trustees of Amherst College for over 30 years (since 1996 as a Life Trustee). He has served on the boards of Prep-for-Prep in NYC and the Museum of African-American History in Boston. He also served as an Expert-in-Residence at Harvard’s Innovation Lab ("I-Lab”) from 2011-2015.
Williams graduated from Amherst College in 1975 with a BA in economics, magna cum laude. He then earned both a JD from Harvard Law School and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1979.
