Lone Star College believes that innovative learning environments can help increase the chances for successful student learning. To test this idea, LSC created a number of collaborative classrooms, innovative learning pods and unique “one-button” studios at its colleges.

Millennials bore easily in traditional classrooms and demand a more engaging learning environment. In addition, today’s workplace requires teamwork and technology-enabled collaboration. To provide students with these skills, LSC established three types of new learning spaces: collaborative classrooms that support group work; learning pods that encourage ad hoc student collaboration; and “one-button” studios where students create multimodal resources that can be shared anytime, anywhere, on any device. This session describes each space and its resources in detail and shares the impact they are having on student engagement.

This session will be conducted as a workshop at round tables. Attendance may be limited.
