Dries Buytaert is the original creator and project lead for Drupal, the open source web platform that revolutionizes the way information is created and shared, and promises to redefine many higher ed practices through new collaboration possibilities. Buytaert holds a PhD in computer science and engineering from Ghent University, along with many notable recognitions, including BusinessWeek Young Entrepreneurs of Tech 2008, MIT Technology Review's TR35 2008--MIT's list of young innovators whose inventions and research they find most exciting, and MindTouch's Top 5 most influential people in Open Source 2009. Dries also received the CIOnet Innovation Award 2009 and was named University of Antwerp Alumnus of the Year 2010.
